If this is for real, it just has to be Gunnbjorn's character 'beast! (Which was the first thing I thought when seeing that gigantic fist on Will's blog. "Is that ammo on that fist, just like Gunny has, or is it a blast-fist like the Behemoth? Either way, it will have a bombard and somehow be connected to Gunny...) ;)
Official announcement is on the PP main page. Name is Dozer (warbeast) and Smigg (pygmy gunner). Sounds like maybe veteran Leader for Blitzers. Unfortunately they used inaccurate twice in the description, so pretty strong hint there, but they did refer to Smigg as considered to be an ace shot among other pygmies
If he makes blitzers work somehow he could make an interesting fix for old Gunny... But at a huge investment in points, and likely not too worth to bother with... :S
I guess I'm the only one not excited about another AoE heavy. I just don't think that a pow 14 AoE probably RoF 1 for 11 or 12 points is going to fill a big gap. Maybe he will make blitzers and gunny worth taking....Meh
You're not alone Jesse... I could wish he's got some really interesting stuff going on, but I just can't see what new he could bring to the faction. With good range and access to snipe he would indeed be doing something else than a bomber, but just for one turn, and hardly to the same effect. Let's just say I'm not that impressed, apart from by the model itself, until I see the rules for it. ;) A very good animus may make it worth the trouble though... and I'm curious about the interaction with other blitzers.
Actually, if he's got assault/weapon platform/virtuoso to make him similar to blitzers and the Behemoth he could threaten really far up the field. And If he would confer some rule like snap fire to himself and other blitzers I could see some quite interesting shooty beast-bricks going on for the Grims and Gunnbjorn... ;)
Rules are out for this guy on War Room now, for a 9 point character he's pretty nice, Unfortunately he does have "Inaccurate" on the Bombard, but his Animus "Bank Shot" sort of negates that by giving target model within 6 +2 to AOE range attack rolls and rerolls on distance and direction if it deviates. Veteran Leader (Blitzer) means 7 RAT blitzers as long as they can see him, and his affinity with Gunnbjorn gives him boosted blast damage rolls. other than that he has the standard Blitzer stat line and rules. a nice combo for Dozer a Blitzer and Gunnbjorn is putting explosivo on the blitzer and then giving the blitzer Dozer's animus for a Rat 9 pow 13 AOE 3.
I think this guy can offer some really interesting alternative lists within our faction. I know he's not what some people wanted for making our entire faction that much better, but he certainly does help up our lacking ranged game - but not for every list, nor every caster. Gunny probably gets the most of him, but he's also welcome with any of the Grims. Considering he's basically 9 pts for ranged support, without doing much of the heavy lifting himself, he's certainly not at home in all lists...
Don't forget that he's also buffing the MAT of blitzers btw, making them more viable in their dual role as assault/gun beasts.
