Dire Brackets - pDoomy by TheGreatBlah

Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment for picking pDoomshaper for this thing but it just couldn't be helped.   Yeap his defense is pretty bad, yeap he dies to a stiff breeze if someone gets a bead on him, but I'll be darned this old troll is just a lot of fun to play.  Unfortunetly for pDoomshaper, Grissel is his first opponent.  Say what you will but she is the one Troll caster who couldn't give a lick about his feat.  She doesn't need to use fury and usually doesn't bring a lot of beast which automatically hoses pDoomshaper's feat and one of his best Hordes screwing spell.  Combined with the fact that Goris is a dirty rotten scoundrel on the battlefield and well deserving of his cutthroat agressive repuation and Old Man Doomy could be in trouble.  That and since Goris beat me the last time we played means it's time for vengeance.

Not to worry though I have a plan.

Being a die hard Troll player there are a few things learned along the way.  First and foremost is, it's easy to hit a Troll.  That brings me to believe that a less traditional approach to killing Grissel and her likely infantry swarm list is more warranted.  By less traditional I mean by using models that aren't typical in a competitive Trollblood list and while its tempting to bring mountains of Runeshapers.  I need a more effective way to mow down as many models as possible in a short time by bringing models that generate multiple attacks per turn.  Some of you may see where I'm going here...

My 35point list for this round starts with one of the units that you can see me defending on the PP forums over and over... the Scattergunners.  Yes, the scattergunners... the most expensive WA in the game, and I have chose to attach mine to some Kriel warriors.  I'll gamble here that he going to bring a boatload of warrior models and go light on the beasts, which is good since I'm not bringing a heavy hitter.  And then do my best to play catchers mit to a couple of waves of warrior models.

My favorite quote on a Troll card so far:
"Crude and imprecise? Son, I'm a surgeon with this scattergun." ~Sergeant Beltun Juln~

35+7 points, 31 models
Hoarluk Doomshaper, Shaman of the Gnarls +7 points
* Dire Troll Bomber 10 points
* Troll Impaler 5 points
6 Kriel Warriors 4 points
* 3 Kriel Caber Thrower 3 points
* Kriel Warrior Standard & Piper 2 points
10 Trollkin Scattergunners 8 points
* Scattergunner Officer & Standard 2 points
3 Trollkin Sluggers 5 points

The idea is of course to mow down as many of his guys as possible and hope he tough rolls less than I do.  Moving up to 50 is a tough choice for me.  Do I add 12 Fenns to the mix with a Fel Caller? or do I add in another Bomber or Blitzer? For now I think I'll go second Bomber and fill out my list a little with some much needed support.  Max out the Sluggers and Max out the Kriel Warriors to look a little something like this.

50+7 points, 37 models
Hoarluk Doomshaper, Shaman of the Gnarls +7 points
* 2x Dire Troll Bomber 10 points each
* Troll Impaler 5 points
Janissa Stonetide 3 points
10 Kriel Warriors 6 points
* 3 Kriel Caber Thrower 3 points
* Kriel Warrior Standard & Piper 2 points
10 Trollkin Scattergunners 8 points
* Scattergunner Officer & Standard 2 points
5 Trollkin Sluggers 8 points

Now I know some of you are saying, "Thegreatblah you are crazy spending those 8 points on Sluggers" or "Jeesh I know Scattergunners with their new UA are better but they are still scattergunners."  To those of you who say such things I will respond with this.  I like them, they are fun, and if the choice is between winning or having fun then having fun it will be.   There is still some small chance that Goris will see 18xRuneshapers on the other side of the board (gosh that is tempting) but how bad would Goris look if he loses to a mess of scattergunners and sluggers...

THIS GAME WILL BE PLAYED ON VASSAL AND SKYPE FOR ANYONE WHO WISHES TO SPECTATE MY DEMISE OR GORIS' HUMILIATION more info to come.
