Nightfall Review ~ Solos

Fel Caller Hero ~ He is an animal.  Who would have though all you had to do was increase his RAT a little and he would become a killing machine?  I like him on offense much more than I used to, but losing the ability to buff RAT & MAT still stings a little every time I use him.  Nightfall killing machine he should have been... spraying five sword knights in one attack = good.  Hitting one of them = Bad.  Not killing the one he hit = Insulting.  Redemption came in the form of a mostly dead unit of exemplars in another game but the lack of damage was already done.

Nightfall Review ~ Units

Kriel Warriors, Caber Tosser, Standard & Piper ~ The staple, the bread and butter, the left and right arm... these guys do thier job and do it well.  And what is their job you might ask?  Well, they run up and do their best not to die too fast.

Nightfall Review ~ Warbeasts

Pyre Troll ~ Played a single game with this guy.  I think because I'm still reeling from when he got nerfed... yeah he is awesome again but I need to work him back in.

Nightfall Question ~ Are we there yet?

Slag Troll ~ Probably the reason why the Pyre Troll hasn't seen more action.  That and there are lots lots lots more Warmachine players in my lgs than there are Hordes.  That means we needs our jack killer.  For the record, my Slag Troll has been tearing it up in Nightfall.. though he does lack a little bit of punch... most our light beasts with two open fists do.
Nightfall Rating 4 Stars.
Nightfall Medical Condition ~ Mild Siderosis, with some outbreaks.

Nightfall Review ~ Casters

As my local gaming group heads into the Nightfall Championship/Finale scenario I thought I'd spend a few days and a few posts highlighting the best and worst performances.  Starting today with Casters.

Madrak Ironhide, Thornwood Chieftan ~ Saw only one game so far, but it was a doosie.  35 Points and eeked out a luky win when PS 19 Thrown Axe took out a screening Man-O-War and Snap Fire Took Sorcsha in the face dropping her.

Nightfall Unique Model(s) breakdown vs Trolls

This post originally posted on the PP Forums HERE

This is a completely theorymachined article analyzing our opponents models for the league, and the implications of said models. If you have your own theory machine, it is fully welcome. If you have actual experience, even better.

Everblight – Nephelim Warder
Gains – 10" Lamentation Animus, Magic Weapon, Blessed Weapon, Force Barrier
Loses – 1 POW, Massacre animus, 1 DEF
Replacement effect: Minimal. It can fulfill an almost identical role if necessary. The main difference is the loss of Massacre.
Likelyhood of use: Very high. Who doesn’t want lamentation? Additionally, its more resilient to ranged attacks and is nearly as potent in combat, more so against defensively buffed models.
Fighting it: Almost exactly the same. Luckily we rely much more on melee than most, so Force Barrier means nothing. That said, Lamentation crushes some of out better casters, so expect to have to kill this sooner rather than later. The 10” range should mean that you can get to it rather easily. If its on a caster, like, say, eThagrosh, it will be a much greater problem, and you will have to just deal. Mulg to strip the animus away might be a good option, and other than that Grim or either Madrak don’t usually cast all that much.
